What is an Infrared Inspection?

At Wall 2 Wall Property Inspections, we offer a number of specialty inspection services—one of which is an infrared inspection (also called thermal imaging). However, not everyone knows what an infrared inspection is or its value to Santa Clara County homeowners or homebuyers.

An infrared inspection is designed to detect temperature variations in a property using thermal imaging technology. An infrared home inspection allows you to get a view of the often unseen and unnoticed issues in a property, such as:

  • Air leaks in siding, windows, ceilings, and more
  • Defects in insulation
  • Areas where moisture has accumulated
  • Potential electrical concerns or “hot spots”

These unseen issues can cause large problems later on or cause your utility bills to be much higher than anticipated. Spending money now on an infrared inspection could save you money later on by allowing you to fix temperature issues or avoiding costly repairs down the road.

You can schedule an infrared inspection on its own, with another specialty inspection service like mold inspection or lead testing, or as part of your home inspection with Wall 2 Wall Property Inspections. Our home inspectors are certified in infrared inspection and have years of experience assessing Santa Clara County homes.
