Don’t Buy a New Home Before Ordering a Radon Test

When looking for a new home, there are many factors to consider: floor plan, location, number of bedrooms, size of the kitchen, and more. But one of the most important factors you should consider is safety. At Wall 2 Wall Property Inspections, we will assess your home from top to bottom to make sure it is safe and in good condition. In addition to a home inspection, we recommend that all of our customers invest in radon testing before signing for the home.

Radon Testing

What Is Radon?

Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that can accumulate in any home. Radon forms naturally when radioactive metals break down in rocks, soil, and groundwater. While people are always exposed to it because it is a naturally occurring gas, high levels of exposure can cause serious health problems, including lung cancer.

Why Should I Test for Radon?

The EPA and Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for radon. Nearly one out of every 15 homes in the US is estimated to have elevated radon levels (4 pCi/L or more). Unfortunately, there is no way to predict whether a home has a high radon level; all ages and styles of home are susceptible to radon exposure in all 50 states.

What’s the Big Deal?

The problem with radon is that you don’t know it’s a problem until it’s too late. As this radioactive gas permeates the walls of your home, the levels of radiation in your home begin to climb. Over time, this exposure can lead to a variety of respiratory problems, including lung cancer.

Ordering a Radon Inspection

The easiest way to receive quick, accurate radon testing for your home is through professional testing. At Wall 2 Wall, we proudly offer fast, convenient radon testing that can be performed alongside your home inspection. One simple phone call can save your family from this harmful gas.
