Most homebuyers or homeowners understand the value of a home inspection during the purchasing process. They may even opt for mold testing, understanding the health risks involved with having molds present. However, what many people don’t consider is whether the home has high levels of radon and getting a radon inspection. At Wall 2 Wall Property Inspections, we do our best to inform our clients about radon and why you may want to think about getting a property tested.

What is radon?

Radon is a radioactive gas that is created when uranium decomposes in the soil near your home, and it can be found in all parts of the United States. The biggest cause for concern is that radon has serious health implications, becoming the second leading cause of lung cancer, right behind smoking. You’re at a lower risk for health issues, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, if your home or office is below 4.0 picocuries per liter (4.0 pCi/L).

Why get radon testing?

The difficult part about detecting radon is that it is both odorless and tasteless. The only way to know the levels around your home is to get it tested. You can do it on your own with a test kit, or you can hire a professional who will make sure the results are read correctly and can help you interpret them. At Wall 2 Wall, we offer radon testing as part of our specialty inspection services. You can schedule it as a stand-alone inspection or in addition to your regular home inspection.

How do I schedule a radon inspection?

For anyone in the Santa Clara County, CA, area, Wall 2 Wall Property Inspections is here to serve you and your inspection needs. To schedule radon testing, contact us anytime at (888) 991-9255.
